Early College
The Early College Program at Phoenix
The Early College Program at the Phoenix School provides an opportunity for academically qualified seniors to get a head start on their college careers while concurrently completing their high school graduation requirements. The purpose of this fast track timeline is to allow highly motivated students a means to pursue their educational and career goals before they graduate from Phoenix Charter School.
In partnership with Umpqua Community College (UCC), Early College students are dual-enrolled at Phoenix School and UCC. As such, Early College students will earn both high school and college credit simultaneously. These transferable credits will count toward earning an Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer (AAOT) degree, an Associate of Science degree, or a certificate program at UCC. Consequently, Early College students will save on tuition costs and time in the long term before they graduate with an Associate’s degree or certificate, transfer to another institution, or being their career pursuits. While enrolled as an Early College student, Phoenix Charter School will cover the tuition, fees, and textbook expenses.
In addition to completing coursework at Phoenix and UCC, the Early College cohort participates in weekly meetings, college and career readiness workshops, and informational talks. Early College students are required to complete a minimum of twenty house of instruction over a minimum of four days per week.
